Job description
Winparts is the e-commerce in car parts. We are growing fast and will further expand our expertise within Europe in 2024.
Are you embarking on this adventurous road trip?
Why you want to work at Winparts.
We’re at the start of a major rollout of our business within Europe; to start up and connect, you would therefore occasionally go to Madrid or Barcelona, for example. In addition, we replace old code with new; if you join us now, you can think about how we can best approach this.
Our motto? Keep moving. With an enthusiastic team of about 90 colleagues, we work every day to improve our platform. Since May 2021 Winparts has been part of Genuine Parts Company. That gave us the opportunity to grow rapidly, starting within Europe.
We do this in a down-to-earth manner; After all, we come from the North. What further characterizes our office culture is open communication and a pleasant working atmosphere; we’re all equals here.
In addition to down-to-earthness, we also find involvement, expertise, curiosity and a focus on growth important: based on those core values, we together give full throttle to Winparts' ambitions.
Our beautiful, easily accessible office in Groningen also has delicious coffee and a fantastic view. You don't have to be a car nut to work here, but it can make it even more fun.
What does this position entail?
As Senior Backend Developer Java you hold a central position in the entire multilingual team. You understand how things work; you connect the dots between all the different systems we communicate with. You understand both the developer and the organizational interests - in other words: you see the big picture and know which KPI’s are important.
About half of our development team is based in Krakow, Poland. These are dedicated medior and senior developers, with whom regular meetups take place. We work via Scrum where developers not only develop code, but also develop user stories and know where to find stakeholders if there are any questions.

About us
As a Senior backend developer Java you are part of Winparts' international growth ambitions. We have been growing 30+% per year for years and are the most important e-commerce partner of GPC worldwide in Europe. Our dot on the horizon? Times 10 in 10 years! How? By launching Winparts in the 9 AAG countries, including France and Spain.
Winparts is also in a transition phase in terms of software: while the majority still runs on Vanilla PHP applications, we are making a switch to composable, in which SAP plays a major role. We deviate from the SAP standard because we use a different storefront (Alokai, a React framework) and have connected a different headless CMS. At the same time, we will still be stuck with our Legacy systems and the systems of linked warehouses for some time, making the transition slower than the 'rock-hard' development time.
